KUALA LUMPUR: After eight years upon its completion, the film Sayu Yang Syukur, finally opened in the cinemas last week.

In a recent news report, its director Datuk Aaron Aziz explained the reasons of its delayed screening.

"We finished filming in 2016 but then we took some time to do the editing.

"We had to be thorough with the editing process as I didn't want the end product to be unnecessarily long and draggy," said Aaron, 47, who was also part of the romantic drama film cast.

He added that as soon as editing completed, there was the pandemic and the ensuing movement restrictions.

"When things got back to normal, there were many films of similar genre released. So we decided to hold back and release it much later. I'm glad that it is finally being screened now."

Others in the cast lineup include: Nora Danish, Arja Lee, Datuk Ahmad Tarmimi Siregar, Kismah Johar and Raja Ema.

The movie tells the story of Liana (played by Nora) who is involved in a road accident while on her way back to her hometown, and found by Qudaim (Aaron).

The kismet incident becomes a new beginning for Liana.
