KUALA LUMPUR: Pop queen Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza is shocked to hear of music production company Universal Music Group's seemingly pro-Israel stance.
The company recently released a statement on social media condemning Palestinian nationalist movement Hamas as a terrorist group and blaming it for the on-going violence between Palestinians and the Israeli army in Gaza.
Siti said in a news report yesterday that she was "not on the same page" as Universal Music, as she had always been supportive of the Palestinian people.
She also said that she was not an artiste under Universal Music, and the company merely distributed her songs in Malaysia.
"I am shocked by what they said. However I do not believe that Universal Music Malaysia shares a similar view," said Siti whose latest album Sitism is distributed by Universal Music Malaysia.
Siti also said that she had decided to postpone her March 2024 concert in line with Malaysia's on-going solidarity with the suffering Palestinians.
"I plan to hold a fund-raising mini concert to help them too.
"Right now we must focus on giving the Palestinians our fullest support," she said, adding that she had also cut down entertainment-related postings on social media.
