KUALA LUMPUR: A series of stand-up comedy shows where artistes get to test their new material will be happening at KLPAC, here from May 31.
Titled Test Is Best, the shows will feature some of Malaysia's best and rising stand-up comedians taking the stage to craft their jokes, refine new routines and explore new comedic territories.
The new series is scheduled to begin with three dates – May 31, June 14 and June 28 at KLPAC's Indicine venue.
Comedians that will be included on the roster include Shamaine Othman, Rizal Van Geyzel, Kavin Jay, Phoon Chi Ho, Papi Zak, Prakash Daniel, Keren Bala Devan, Brian Tan and many more.
"Writing is an important part of stand-up comedy and getting stage time with an audience is the only way for comedians to know if their written jokes are funny.
"We would like to welcome all comedy fans who are interested in watching the process of creating brand new stand-up comedy material to catch this new series".
"These work-in-progress shows have helped me craft my debut stand-up comedy special, Oh No She Didn't, last year.
"So, I decided to run my very own work-in-progress comedy room to offer my comedy peers the stage time to test their new material", said comedian, writer and Test Is Best founder, Shamaine in a recent statement.
The series is a collaboration with The Actors Studio Seni Teater Rakyat.
The Actors Studio and KLPAC co-founder, Datuk Dr Faridah Merican said: "The Actors Studio Seni Teater Rakyat has a history of cultivating Malaysian stories and we are happy to support these homegrown stand-up comedians as they are also our storytellers."
