KUALA LUMPUR: Popular celebrity chef Datuk Redzuawan Ismail or Chef Wan has "buried the hatchet" with his former daughter-in-law Shikin Maembong.

In an Instagram post yesterday, Chef Wan, 64, said that he and Shikin, the former wife of his son Mohd Nadzri Redzuawan or Chef Riz, reconciled their differences which cropped up over the last few years, at a family gathering in Cyberjaya, Selangor.

"Shikin and I decided to end our war of words, forgive and forget. I have no grudge against her and vice-versa. We have both decided to learn from our mistakes, let bygones be bygones and move on," said Chef Wan, adding that the get-together was specially to celebrate his mother Noraini Abdullah's 90th birthday.

"Families always stick together. I always see Shikin as a wonderful person and a fabulous mother to her daughter, my granddaughter Putri Arriana Natasya.

"And as a grandfather I will always do my best for my grandchildren."

Shikin or Siti Nur Ashikin Ismail, 39, said on Instagram that she was happy that they had reconciled, and accepted her former father-in-law's words of advice.

"I'm so happy to see my daughter Putri Arriana with her grandfather. They are very close, and as for me and Riz, we are still friends," she said.

Riz, 40, and Shikin, the elder sister of actresses Emma Maembong and Chacha Maembong, were married between 2014 and 2016. Putri Arriana, 7, is their only child.

Last February, Shikin sued Chef Wan for RM1 million for allegedly slandering her on social media. However, she withdrew her lawsuit three months later, and chose to reconcile with him.
