KUALA LUMPUR: Three Malaysian-made Tamil movies are now available for streaming on Netflix.

In a media statement today, the award-winning movies – Vedigundu Pasangge (Rowdy Folks); Paramapatham (The Snake & Ladder Gameboard); and Pulanaivu – have been selected based on their good content and message.

While Vedigundu Pasangge is (2018) a romantic comedy, Paramapatham (2021) is a fiction film, and Pulanaivu (2019), a murder mystery.

Vedigundu Pasangge tells the story of a villager named Theva who is caught in a complicated situation and realises that his life is surrounded by mystery.

The film, starring Denes Kumar, Sangeeta Krishnasamy, David Antonny and Thangamani Velayudan, became the first local Tamil movie to collect more than RM1.3 million in Malaysia after two weeks of screening, said Denes who is also its producer.

It was selected for the Special Jury Award at the 30th Malaysian Film Festival.

Meanwhile, Paramapatham, which is a story about archaeologists who come across an ancient board game, has won several awards at various film festivals in Norway, India and Italy.

Pulanaivu tells the story of Aishwarya, a college student, and police officer Bhairavi who is caught between handling a murder case and duty as a wife and mother.

This movie won Best Crime Thriller Feature Film at the Toronto Tamil Film Festival in 2020, Best Screenplay at the 11th Norway Tamil Film Festival as well as several other awards at the Everest International Film Festival and Chola Cinema Award.
