KUALA LUMPUR: Popular singer and actor Hazama Azmi is thrilled with his newfound second job as an entrepreneur.

The 38-year-old singer and his musician wife Genervie Kam, 42, jointly manage a food business at the Ramadan Bazaar in Gamuda Cove, Dengkil, Sepang, Selangor.

It opened on April 14, for a 14-day period and sells cakes, biscuits and laksa among others.

"What I love about running this business is, I get to meet my fans and sell them what they like to eat," he said in an interview with Harian Metro Online today.

"Truth be told, my wife is the real owner of the business, and I'm merely her assistant. But even before this, I've been helping friends sell foodstuffs in Ramadan bazaars too."

Hazama added that running a foodstall was a great way to "survive" when the music industry was subdued by the Movement Control Order (MCO) aimed at suppressing the spread of Covid-19 over the last two years.

"At first, we sold foodstuffs from our home. That was during the height of the MCO where everybody was afraid to go out.

"But when things began to improve and we both got vaccinated, we decided to meet and greet visitors at Ramadan bazaars," said Hazama.

While Hazama is happy to sing on stage and appear in television programmes again, he is not about to bid adieu to his foodstall.

"We will be running it at Ramadan bazaars every year, and perhaps in bazaars to mark other special occasions.

"Who knows, we might even upgrade our stall into a cafe later, as business has been pretty good."
