KUALA LUMPUR: Former Didik TV host Myra Natasya, 27, may be a familiar face on television, but few people know that her father is a household name.

The former Dewi Remaja 2019 contestant is the daughter of award-winning veteran radio announcer and television host Halim Othman, best known for hosting Roda Impian in the late 1990s.

Myra, who is also an actress, recently decided to "go public" about being the daughter of 56-year-old Halim as her father felt that it was "just the right time".

"I've been in the industry for three years, and at first my father advised me not to reveal who I was, because it was best for me to achieve fame or stardom on my own merit," said Myra in an interview with Harian Metro Online yesterday.

"But now that I've become more well-known to viewers, he has given me the green light to do so."

Myra also said that Halim initially discouraged her from joining showbiz, as he feared that fame "could be damaging". However, her success and popularity as a Didik TV host changed his mind.

"He's very supportive of me today, and I guess that's because I worked hard in what I did and took my entertainment career seriously," said Myra, who will soon star in drama series Republic Of Gombak on TV3.

Myra, whose real name is Yusmyra Natasya Abdul Halim, is the daughter of Halim and his ex-wife Yusnita Omar.
