KUALA LUMPUR: Acclaimed lyricist Datuk Habsah Hassan's restaurant, Restoran Puteri in Sungai Penchala, is still operating despite being badly affected by the Movement Control Order (MCO) of 2020.

Contrary to popular belief, the only Restoran Puteri which closed its doors as a result of the MCO last year was the one in Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Brickfields.

"Restoran Puteri Sungai Penchala is very much alive. Sad to say, the original Restoran Puteri in Brickfields had to call it a day last year," said Habsah in an interview with Harian Metro Online yesterday.

"I'm glad that business is slowly coming back, especially during Ramadan. The fasting month has indeed been a boost to Restoran Puteri Sungai Penchala."

Habsah, who co-owns Restoran Puteri with veteran actress Rubiah Suparman, recently launched its special Ramadan buffet package priced at RM75 per person.

"It's got nine stations with over 80 menus, including drinks. Every week, there will be changes to the menu. However, the signature dishes will remain," she said.

Habsah is thankful that diners have continued to support her restaurant despite the increase in food prices.

"Our specialties are traditional Malay recipes, and the design of our restaurant also reflects tradition," she said.

Habsah said that Restoran Puteri would be closed for Hari Raya Aidilfitri on April 28, as her staff needed to "balik kampung" after two years of spending Hari Raya in the Klang Valley.

"Everybody misses going home to visit their loved ones. That's why we've decided to close a few days before Hari Raya."
