KUALA LUMPUR: A 2014 music video for South Korean boyband GOT7 looks surprisingly familiar, as the seven-member group is shown singing and dancing in colourful outfits outside a shop which reads "Motor Sdn Bhd".

And in another scene, the boys are singing in a supermarket with Malay words as "makanan laut" and "farmasi" written on the walls.

Yes, GOT7 shot the music video for their 2014 hit song A in Malaysia, specifically at the Holy Smoke Cafe in Section 13, Shah Alam and the Tesco supermarket in Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya.

In fact, the music video for A was one of their earliest, as Lim Jae-Beom (JB), Mark Tuan, Jackson Wang, Park Jinyoung, Choi Youngjae, Kunpimook Bhuwakul (BamBam), and Kim Yugyeom got together in 2014 as JYP Entertainment artistes.

In the five-minute video, the boys are seen entering a cafe with 1950s-style American decor, reminiscent of Westlife's 2002 music video for Uptown Girl.

As they flip through their menus, they become attracted to a pretty waitress, and burst into a dance sequence in and out of the cafe.

This attracts passers-by who join them as back-up dancers, and their colourful performance continues even after their "dreamgirl" calls it a day at her workplace.

GOT7's music video is complete with Malay words surrounding the seven young singers. Words as "mee hoon", "sup" and "laksa" pop up on signboards and banners in several scenes.

Netizens gave the video their thumbs-up, and described it as a "Malaysia Boleh" moment to be proud of.

However, many of them were also puzzled as to why the seven singers had chosen to wear multiple layers of clothes, as the Malaysian weather was hot and humid.

GOT7 released its first album Got It? in 2014, which peaked at No. 2 on the Gaon Album Chart and No. 1 on Billboard's World Albums Chart.

In late 2014, the group released its debut Japanese-language single Around The World.

GOT7 will release their fourth album Breath Of Love: Last Piece, with Last Piece as its lead single, on Nov 30.
