KUALA LUMPUR: Popular actor and producer Datuk Hans Isaac will leave it to the PKR leadership and the people of Ampang, after his name was bandied about as a party candidate to contest for the Ampang parliamentary seat in the next general election or GE15.

The former chairman of the National Film Development Corporation (Finas) said that Malaysia's political scene needed new faces to lead as it was currently seen to be dominated by a huge number of elderly political figures.

"We have the same old individuals in the political arena and that is why Malaysians have no interest in politics.

"We need a change for a much brighter future but it is our responsibility to make that change.

"I understand that the rakyat are disappointed but we must not give up hope on what has happened and it is fully within our rights to choose the right path," he said in a news report yesterday.

Although his name was highlighted as a wakil rakyat for Ampang, Hans added that his current prime objective was to direct his focus on helping the people in that area.

"My team, known as 'Kita Budak Ampang', will focus on social programmes to aid the people and we truly appreciate all the support and help that has been channelled to us.

"Running these programmes by ourselves can sometimes give us a little pressure but it also gives us great pleasure when we see the impact of our small contributions towards families and individuals.

"Although there are times when it is hard because we can't help everyone at the same time, but we try our very best," he said.
