POPULAR Taiwanese singer and actress Rainie Yang is set to give fans a spellbinding, two-hour showcase at Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.

Titled Rainie Yang Youth Lies Within World Tour In KL, it will be held at the Axiata Arena at 8pm.

Fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin, Yang was born in Taipei, Taiwan 35 years ago, and studied performing arts at the Hwa Kang Arts School during her late teens.

Her entertainment career began in 2000 when she became a member of the Taiwanese girl group 4 In Love.

The group’s popularity in the music industry, however, achieved limited success.

After it disbanded in 2002, Yang continued to pursue her career in entertainment as a television host.

She soon became a household name hosting popular variety shows such as Guess on Taiwanese television. After playing supporting roles in a number of television dramas, such as the hugely popular Meteor Garden, Yang landed the leading role as Qi Yue in the Taiwanese drama Devil Beside You in 2005.

In the same year, she released her debut album, My Intuition, featuring the hit song Intuition, which also became the theme song for Devil Beside You.

In 2006, she released her second album, Meeting Love, and starred in the film Spider Lilies with Isabella Leong.

A year later, she took the leading role in the romantic comedy Why Why Love, which also starred Mike He and Kingone Wang.

She subsequently released her third album, My Other Self, on Sept 7, 2007. It featured the theme song of Why Why Love titled Lacking Oxygen and Perfect Example from the same film.

Yang got hurt in an accident on April 23, 2008 while filming the drama series Miss No Good.

She tumbled down the stairs in an action scene and was hospitalised with a spinal injury.

Fortunately, Yang recovered speedily to record her fourth album Not Yet A Woman which featured the songs Too Much Trouble and Take Me Away, the theme song for Miss No Good.

In 2009, Yang starred in To Get Her with Jiro Wang of Fahrenheit and George Hu. She also filmed The Child’s Eye in Thailand, a horror film directed by the Pang Brothers with Elanne Kong.

She also appeared in the Taiwanese television drama Hi My Sweetheart with Show Lo, and launched her fifth album Rainie And Love?

Yang entered the J-Pop industry in 2010 by releasing a Japanese version of Intuition as her first Japanese-language single.

Yang released her first compilation album, Whimsical World Collection, on April 23, 2010. It consisted of three new tracks, 35 previously released tracks and 15 music videos from her five studio albums.

On Oct 22, 2010, she won Best Actress at the 45th Golden Bell Awards for her role as Chen Baozhu in Hi My Sweetheart.

In 2011, Yang released her sixth studio album Longing For which featured the song We Are All Silly.

In 2012, Yang starred in the romantic film Heartbeat Love with Show Lo.

On Aug 17, 2012, she released her seventh studio album Wishing For Happiness. Her second concert tour, Love Voyage, took place on Dec 14.

Yang’s eighth studio album Angel Wings was released on Aug 23, 2013 and a year later she launched her ninth studio album A Tale Of Two Rainies and starred in the drama series Love At Second Sight.

On Sept 30, 2016 Yang released her 10th studio album Traces Of Time In Love.

It was nominated for three awards at the 28th Golden Melody Awards, including Song of the Year, Best Lyricist, and Best Single Producer for the title track Traces Of Time In Love.
