The Navarasa Heritage Fashion Showcase organised by Bkay Nair Resources (BNR) featured an enchanting runway presentation that blended traditional Malaysian textiles with contemporary fashion designs inspired by the saree.
In a visual feast of vibrant colours, intricate patterns, and exquisite craftsmanship, the grand finale of the fashion competition saw 44 models showcasing a total of 77 looks by 11 designers that were inspired by the diverse cultures of Malaysia.
The "Malaysian saree", meticulously crafted from batik, songket, and Malaysian silk, also made its debut during the show.
This event not only promotes cultural preservation but also empowers local artisans, designers, and weavers and creates a platform for designers to showcase their creativity while incorporating traditional textiles into modern fashion.
The "Upcoming Designer Award: Highlighting the Best Student Designer" was won by Naresh Yempati while the "Most Creative Designer Award: Celebrating the Most Imaginative Senior Designer" was awarded to Kesheen Ragunathan.
The "Malaysian Heritage Excellence Award: Recognising the Senior Designer with the Best Malaysian Heritage Design", was won by Munir Yahya.
