Women are always at the heart of luxury skincare brand La Prairie's vision.

So it comes as no surprise that the brand is vocal about its support for women in arts and feminist artist Niki de Saint Phalle was one of the brand's early inspirations.

De Saint Phalle (1930-2002) was known for her eccentric, emotional, dark, humorous and enigmatic work.

Social and political issues have always been at the centre of her work. Despite being in a world where art was dominated by men, the multifaceted artist continued to challenge institutions and establish societal roles that would resonate in her contemporary work.

To honour her heritage, La Prairie supports Niki de Saint Phalle's cultural legacy. Her groundbreaking work and achievements are exhibited at Kunsthaus Zürich until Jan 8, 2023.

Here, a selection of early assemblages, action art and graphic work, sculptures and more are exhibited to offer insights into the artist's unfamiliar perspectives and new realism.

A collaboration between La Prairie and de Saint Phalle has led to the iconic cobalt blue for its Skin Caviar Collection, representing femininity, boldness, strength and serenity – much like the artist herself.

Cobalt blue became the Skin Caviar bottle colour following her suggestion.

The moment de Saint Phalle saw the glistening gold caviar beads in La Prairie's first creative studio, she professed that caviar is life and deserves to be enshrined in a vibrant, potent colour – cobalt blue.

Cobalt blue was later adopted as the Skin Caviar signature colour, immediately creating an icon. Infused with the colour of de Saint Phalle's iconic "Nanas" sculptures, it is a homage to an encounter between the house and the world of art.
