DID you know it was the National Space Agency (NASA) that first harnessed the power of LED light, using the technology to heal wounds of astronauts in space?

This technology has been adopted by the beauty industry, resulting in the birth of products like the LED beauty mask -- you may have seen it on influencers and celebrities all over social media.

Dr Dennis Gross is one of the many brands that offers LED light therapy devices. One is called the DRx SpectraLite FaceWare Pro, and its latest one is DRx SpectraLite BodyWare Pro.

The BodyWare Pro is a flexible panel that can be used on your chest, neck, back, legand arm... just not your face.

Similar to the mask, this device is designed to stimulate collagen production within the skin for anti-ageing purposes so you can bid goodbye to fine lines, dark spots and wrinkles... or so it seems.

The lights are programmed to offer four different settings.

LIGHT THERAPY

The lights are pre-programmed in patterns of red, blue and a combination of blue and red, designated for four different treatment settings.

On the corner of the panel there are two buttons labelled 3 and 14. You're supposed to click the three-minute button once for the red light anti-ageing treatment, twice for the blue light to treat acne, and click it again for both red and blue lights for anti-ageing and acne treatment at the same time.

The other button is for joint pains which will last for 14 minutes.

I like that it's not too bulky, and that it's a pretty straightforward device which doesn't require any assembling or a 10-step setup. As a first-time user of an LED light therapy device, I'm off to a good start.

While I have not developed any wrinkles yet, I do have dark spots and blemishes so these are some issues that I need help with.

And being a mum of two who runs on four hours of sleep every day, I experience muscle pains, particularly on my back. Being able to do this treatment at home is a bonus as I can simply do it while watching Netflix at the end of the day when the kids are asleep.

ON DRY SKIN

It's recommended to use it on clean and dry skin so don't simply put it on your skin after a sweaty workout session.

About two weeks , I honestly don't feel like there is a major difference in terms of my dark spots or blemishes (maybe too early to tell) but I do feel my skin has become firmer than before.

I find that this treatment is convenient and easy to fit in my busy schedule. It's comfortable and it easily adapts to different body parts due to its flexibility.

The only downside is the hefty price tag. Each BodyWare costs RM2,041 according to Sephora's website. I think that's very steep compared with what it delivers, at least within two weeks of use.
