NO one likes to be incomplete limb-wise, animals included. In conjunction with the National Dog Day today, August 26, 2023, Apple is showcasing a short video titled "The Invincibles", featuring 3DPets.

3DPets, an organisation based in New Jersey, US, leverages the power of the iPhone to give pups a new lease on life, like Cleo, Samson, Trip, and Eve, by creating custom-fit 3D printed prostheses.

Using the power of the LiDAR Scanner and TrueDepth front camera on the iPhone, along with a few third-party apps, 3DPets can capture the intricate depth information needed to customise each prosthesis to the individual animal's size and shape.

This includes animals other than dogs like ducks, pigs, goats, and even turtles! Their efforts to rehabilitate and reacclimatise dogs are showcased in the latest Shot on iPhone campaign, "The Invincibles" which you can view on YouTube or @apple.

Cleo's second chance

Cleo's journey from a stray dog with unknown injuries in Oklahoma to a confident, prosthetic-wearing pup is a tale of resilience and dedication.

Discovered on PetFinder by biomedical engineering student Jordan during the last semester of his master's programme, Cleo's story touched his heart.

After researching dogs, prosthetics, and the biomedical industry, Jordan's dreams of crafting a prosthetic for Cleo led him to 3DPets. With painstaking dedication, Jordan worked alongside Cleo, helping her regain her mobility and confidence. Their bond grew stronger as Cleo, now adorned with a 3D-printed leg, embarked on a new chapter in life, showcasing the power of technology in transforming fate.

Samson's unbreakable spirit

When John and Allison unexpectedly lost their previous German Shepherd, they weren't sure if they were ready for another dog with health issues. However, fate intervened when Samson, a loyal and courageous dog, walked into their lives. Samson's powerful spirit inspired them to overcome their doubts, especially as he himself had overcome adversity following his amputation.

Thanks to 3DPets' innovative prosthetic solutions, Samson was back on the trails, running alongside his four-legged companions. His indomitable spirit became a testament to the resilience of both animals and humans.

Trip's journey of hope and healing

Trip, a small but mighty pup, started it all for 3DPets. Born with congenital abnormalities in an illegal breeding facility, Trip became an amputee at just four months old. His presence played a pivotal role in the development of 3DPets' prosthetic devices. With his prosthetic limbs, Trip enjoys the simple pleasures of life – splashing in water, playing fetch, and running with his unique circle of friends, including Cheetoh the cat and Noony the goat. Trip's journey from adversity to advocacy mirrors the transformative potential of technology in animal care.

Eve's triumph over adversity

Eve's life took a tragic turn when an unknown trauma left her on the streets, severely injured and pregnant. Rescued from a high-kill shelter by a Pennsylvania rescue, Eve's determination to survive never wavered. Once her healthy litter was born and weaned, it was time for Eve to receive the care she deserved. As one of 3DPets' early recipients, Eve's prosthetic leg became a symbol of her resilience. With her newfound mobility, this 8-year-old dog now explores the world with unbridled enthusiasm, embodying the essence of second chances.

In a world where technology often seems to disconnect us, 3DPets' innovative use of the iPhone proves that it can also serve as a lifeline, reuniting animals with their natural vitality. As we celebrate National Dog Day, these heartwarming stories remind us that technology, love, and determination can come together to transform lives and restore hope, one paw at a time.
