Recently, at its signature Sharp Tech Day in Tokyo, Japan, the company unveiled its technology strategy for the future. 1. The future of smart living: Sharp's theme, "Less Is More", highlighted smart living solutions powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and collaborations with start-ups. The focus is on enriching households with greater convenience and comfort.
2. The future of smart cities: Sharp envisions "Better Safety" in cities, featuring a local 5G disaster relief solution called "Instant 5G Network" and AI driving-assistance for enhanced safety on the roads.
3. The future of smart industry: Centred on "Better Efficiency," Sharp showcased innovations like smarter office through XR, smarter logistic with robotics, and breakthroughs in smart manufacturing and smart laboratory technology.
4. The future of sustainability: Aligning with global demand for sustainable solutions, Sharp introduced innovations in green energy and green digital communication. Notable developments include solar modules for the EV industry and a high-visibility electronic paper display with zero power consumption.
In addition to developing innovative solutions, Sharp emphasises its role in bringing innovators together. The company released specifications of its edge AI technology, engaging with start-ups to develop generative AI technology. Sharp's strategic partner, Foxconn, showcased an SUV electric vehicle and automotive semiconductors.
As a testament to its commitment to collaboration and synergy, Sharp organised a hackathon at Sharp Tech Day, inviting engineers, designers, and innovators to redefine the future value of televisions. The winning team proposed an 'AI assistant standing close by the family,' winning a cash prize and potential joint development support from Sharp.
