KUALA LUMPUR: Samsung Electronics just launched its new flagship phones - the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23, and we've got the opportunity to view them for the first time. Here are some of the new features and upgrades.
BETTER CAMERA SYSTEM
To cater to fellow photographers, the Galaxy S23 Ultra entails an advanced camera system that suits any lighting conditions and it renders great detail.
With improved Nightography capabilities, the Galaxy S series lets users get sharper images and videos in a wide range of ambient conditions.
For any visual noise in low-light images, it is corrected by a new AI-powered image signal processing (IPS) algorithm that enhances its detail and colour tone.
For the first time, the Galaxy S23 Ultra has a 200MP Adaptive Pixel sensor that takes precise shots and uses pixel binning to support multiple levels of high-resolution processing simultaneously.
Now, the series has an HDR selfie camera, jumping from 30fps to 60fps for nice front-facing images and videos.
The series also includes a myriad of tools, such as the Expert RAW app that enables DSLR-style image shooting and editing in RAW and JPEC.
Besides that, users can experiment with Multiple exposures photo art or take a shot of the Milky Way with Astrophoto settings and access the Expert RAW features via Samsung's native camera app.
Don't forget the new zoom capabilities on Galaxy Watch 5 series' Camera Controller app that helps take a framed shot from your wrist.
The doubled optical image stabiliser (OIS) helps take stabler videos while the 8K video at 30 fps gives a more cinematic feel with a wider angle.
MORE POWERFUL PROCESSOR
Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform, the Galaxy S23 Ultra sports a 5000mAh battery and includes a newly designed CPU for better performance.
Samsung Galaxy's NPU architecture has been optimised by 49 per cent to balance performance and power.
The Galaxy S23 series' optimised GPU is 41 per cent faster than its predecessor.
With improvements made in the gaming department, the Galaxy S23 Ultra will produce more lifelike rendering scenes and its vapour chamber will keep users' gaming marathon going.
Samsung's new 6.8-inch edge display also entails an Enhanced comfort feature for users to adjust colour tones and contrast levels.
And with a vision booster, users can adjust 3 lighting levels to combat brightness and daylight glare.
DESIGN
Since last year, Samsung Galaxy has been increasing the use of recycled materials in its Galaxy S23 series, including pre-consumer recycled aluminium and glass and post-consumer recycled plastics from discarded fishing nets, PET bottles, and water barrels.
Featuring a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, it is more durable and consists of an average of 22 per cent pre-consumer recycled content. Every Galaxy S23 smartphone comes with a 100 per cent recycled paper packaging box.
Also, the Galaxy S23 series is UL ECOLOGO certified for reduced environmental impact.
PRIVACY CHECK
The smartphones come with Samsung Knox protection and the Security and Privacy Dashboard for extra security.
It lets users get full visibility on who accessed their data and how it's being used, decide which applications and programmes get access to their data, and how it can be used.
Knox Vault will protect critical information by isolating it from other devices, including the OS.
Apart from its extra safety features, users can get the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra, and the Galaxy Tab S8 to enjoy Samsung Galaxy's ecosystem.
CONTROL
Samsung Multi Control is now extended to Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23, making it easy to copy and paste text, like URLs, from one device to another to pick up activities on another device.
Making video calls is also more collaborative with Samsung Notes and S Pen. Users can utilise Google Meet live sharing to co-edit a document rather than viewing a shared screen.
