KUALA LUMPUR: Auxiliary Force Sdn Bhd (AFSB) is the first security force in Malaysia to integrate body-worn cameras with cutting-edge facial recognition technology. Implemented since February 2018, the body-worn cameras are currently in use by AFSB auxiliary police officers at various locations.
In collaboration with YITU Technology (YITU), a pioneer in Artificial Intelligence (AI) research and innovation, AFSB which is a member of Royal Malaysia Police Cooperative Bhd in their effort to enhance the way auxiliary police safeguard the community, infrastructure and assets, has tapped into YITU’s facial recognition technology to allow officers to review captured video footage to positively identify persons of interest.
“AFSB is committed to bring innovation to the security landscape in Malaysia. This is a significant step forward for us as we leverage artificial intelligence to increase public safety and security,” said CEO of Auxiliary Force Sdn Bhd, Datuk Rosmadi Ghazali.
YITU’s state-of-the-art algorithm won first place in the globally-renowned Face Recognition Vendor Test (FVRT) organised by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in 2017. It also won the face identification accuracy segment of the Face Recognition Prize Challenge, hosted by the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) in the United States.
YITU's facial recognition solutions are currently being used in China at tourist locations including ports, and public spaces.

YITU is displaying a broad range of its public security solutions at National Security Asia (NATSEC) 2018 at Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) from 16 to 19 April 2018.
Products displayed include its proprietary facial recognition and path tracking system, AI smart glasses; and a drone equipped with facial recognition technology. AFSB’s body-worn camera system will be on display as well.
