KUALA LUMPUR: Students who received top marks in the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR), Pentaksiran Tingkatan 3 (PT3) and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) in 2018 are eligible to participate in this year’s ‘Anugerah Pelajar Cemerlang’ (APC) BH-NST 2018.
Those who have participated in exam seminars or workshops organised by the New Straits Times Press (NSTP) or are subscribed to Berita Harian‘s (BH) education supplements such as Didik, Minda, Skor, New Straits Times’ (NST) School Times and its e-learning portal FullAMark are invited to send in their nomination forms by July 3.
NSTP Education Vertical Department general manager Farah Ezrin Mohd Rashidi said that since 1985, NSTP’s newspaper in education (NIE) programmes under both BH and NST have helped many students excel through examination seminars and NIE workshops.
“As part of NSTP’s corporate social responsibility programme, the award ceremony aims to give recognition to outstanding students who subscribe to or use NSTP education products, thereby becoming an inspiration to other students,” she said.
Farah added that student excellence is not merely assessed based on academic achievement, but also on their involvement in co-curricular activities and aspects of their personality.
“In this regard, students who have achieved excellent results as well as those with outstanding co-curriculum achievement are encouraged to compete in APCBH-NST 2018, scheduled to take place in July," she said.
Farah noted that the APCBH-NST 2018’s holistic criteria for excellence are in line with the Education Ministry’s mission to produce students that are balanced in academics and co-curriculum, as outlined in the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2013-2025.
For UPSR, PT3 and SPM participants, five winners in each category will receive RM1,000 cash, as well as exclusive APCBH-NST 2018 certificates and trophies.
Three schools with the highest number of top achievers in the primary and secondary categories will receive prizes too.
In addition to these, this year’s awards will see some new categories included. They are Personaliti Pilihan BH – DIDIK, MINDA and SKOR and Pencapaian Bahasa Inggeris Terbaik (School Times).
Teachers who creatively use newspapers in their education approach, either via BH or NST; and schools with the highest subscriptions to BH or NST supplements stand to win prizes under the Pendidik Kreatif and Rakan Langgan Sisipan BH & NST awards.
Those interested to participate can get the entry forms in BH, NST and Harian Metro. Students can also find links to the forms at the BH Education, FullAMark and School Times Facebook pages.
The deadline for entries is July 3. Submissions can be sent to the Anugerah Pelajar Cemerlang BH-NST 2018, P.O Box 10049, Pejabat Pos Besar, 50902 Kuala Lumpur.
This year, the organisers will also accept e-mail participation. Students need to enclose the required documents to support their nominations in jpeg format (300 dpi) and email to [email protected] with the title “Anugerah Pelajar Cemerlang BH-NST 2018.”
