YAYASAN Bank Rakyat (YBR) has set up the YBR Scholarship for outstanding students to pursue studies at various levels from Foundation and Matriculation to Bachelor’s degree at public and private universities, either locally or abroad.

YBR chairman Datuk Noripah Kamso said RM2.25 million will be allocated to this scholarship from an education fund totalling RM24.88 million this year.

Full scholarships are offered throughout the studies and are open to all Malaysians aged 18 to 30, who will be pursuing full-time studies in science, computing, engineering, information technology, management and humanities.

“These scholarships have been set up to meet the goals of YBR in producing highly skilled human capital to meet current market demand.

“The initiative is also part of our commitment to support the National Education Philosophy in developing the full potential of individuals to promote intellectual, spiritual, emotional and physical well-being,” she said at the launch.

Also present was YBR general manager Norashikin Shaharudin.

Since 2017, the foundation has allocated RM131.5 million in its commitment to ensure that outstanding students are able to realise their potential.

The foundation wants to ensure that every student gets quality education regardless of their individual status in line with the fourth objective of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

“To date, YBR’s education financing products have benefited 4,904 students from various family backgrounds,” added Noripah.

The YBR Scholarship Application is open until March 28 via MyYBR smartphone application or at www.yayasanbankrakyat.com.my
