KUALA LUMPUR: Kinergy Advancement Bhd (KAB) through its unit KAB Energy Holdings Sdn Bhd has partnered with Johor Corp (JCorp) to develop energy efficient data centres.

The partnership with Johor's principal development agency encompasses opportunities to develop customised energy efficient (EE) projects for data centres, renewable energy (RE), clean energy (CE) initiatives for energy-related facilities and engineering projects primarily for data centres, or other related facilities under JCorp.

KAB said it would leverage on its expertise to provide energy efficiency solutions, with a particular focus on developing district cooling systems to greatly reduce data centres' overall energy consumption and enhance their power usage effectiveness (PUE).

It added that it would demonstrate enhanced engineering capabilities and competence through the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) development of data centres and/or other energy-related facilities.

KAB's technical proficiency in RE and CE solutions will also extend to other initiatives within JCorp.

The promotion of renewable energy export through Third-Party Access (TPA) programmes or other renewable energy schemes will be further pursued to supply RE to JCorp and its related business, supporting them in meeting and achieving their sustainability goals.

JCorp president and chief executive Datuk Syed Mohamed Syed Ibrahim said the collaboration marks significant progress in the company's sustainable efforts through innovative energy solutions.

"We recognise the critical importance of finding the right partner to enhance the efficiency of JCorp's existing assets and new projects.

"Kinergy Advancement has demonstrated its capabilities to deliver innovative energy solutions, and we are confident that this strategic partnership will support us in achieving our sustainability goals,"  he said in a statement today.

The collaboration is expected to positively impact the group's future earnings and the company's earnings per share for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2024.

Kinergy Advancement's share price was up 1.3 per cent earlier to 37.5 sen a share, giving it a market capitalisation of almost RM735 million.
