KUALA LUMPUR: PJBumi Bhd today announced that it has bagged a two-year MyDigital ID physical onboarding job from Malaysia's digital identification developer MIMOS Bhd ahead of first phase deployment in July .

PJBumi is an integrated multi-disciplinary engineering and construction services provider.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd, the company said it accepted the contract awarded by MIMOS' unit Mimos Semiconductor (M) Sdn. Bhd today, June 21.

The contract will run from June 21, 2024 until June 20, 2026.

PJBumi said the contract price is RM100,000.00 for 500 units touch point device setup.

It will also receive RM1.70 for every successful physical onboarding for every My Digital ID registered thereafter.

"Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the board is of the opinion that the contract will contribute positively to the earnings per share and the future earnings of PJBumi for financial year ended June 30, 2025 and 2026," it said.

In December last year, MIMOS said MyDigital ID is expected to be made available for the general public by July 2024.

MyDigital ID is expected to be rolled out in four phases, starting with Cabinet members, followed by civil servants, government beneficiaries like subsidies receivers, and finally to the general public.

With an RM80 million allocation, the digital identification initiative aims to speed up the country's digital transformation, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), that will be able to facilitate the targeted subsidies and other facilities.

It is also expected to empower local talents, including researchers in science and innovation.

PJBumi's share price closed 1.4 per cent, or one sen higher, at 71.5 sen today, giving it a market capitalisation of RM58.6 million.
