KUALA LUMPUR: Nestlé Malaysia Bhd recently unveiled its first list of weekly winners of a cash prize of RM3,500 each for its biggest contest to date, the "Peraduan Nestlé Gaji Seumur Hidup" or "Nestlé Salary for Life" contest.

The nationwide contest, which was launched in April to allow Malaysians to fulfil their dreams and earn a "salary for life", runs until June 30 this year with Nestlé Malaysia allocating a total of RM4 million.

Like all other participants in the campaign, Nestle Malaysia said the participants are also in the running to become one of the eleven finalists that will make it to the Grand Finale.

"This is where two of them will earn a RM3,500 monthly salary for the rest of their lives, and the remaining nine will earn a RM3,500 monthly salary for a year," it said in a statement.

One of the winners, Sri Etty Wachjuningsih, a 55-year housewife from Sandakan, Sabah, said she never expected to be a winner in the contest.

"Initially, I just tried my luck after being encouraged by an employee at the supermarket who said, 'Who knows, you might win this time, sister, give it a try. I bought my usual products like Milo, Maggi Kari, and Nestum, but this time I bought a bit more Milo because I wanted to give them as gifts.

"When I received the news that I was one of the weekly winners, I was very grateful, though it still feels unreal. This experience shows that it's never a waste to try," said Sri Etty.

Another winner, Siti Nurul Aida Mohd Sapawi, a 32-year small business owner from Terengganu, shared that she had submitted many entries, purchasing products like Nescafe, Milo, Nestum, Koko Krunch and other Nestlé breakfast cereals.

Nurul Aida said the wide range of delicious products motivated her to join.

"When I found out I was one of the 'Salary for Life' winners, I was extremely surprised and grateful for the prize given by Nestlé. The money I won will be put into our family's savings fund. As a drink seller at a night market stall, this prize money means a lot to me and will help me provide for my family," she said.

According to Nestle Malaysia, participants only need to submit a purchase proof of at least RM20 of Nestlé products.

"The more submissions, the more chances to win any of the many daily and weekly prizes, not to mention the possibility to participate in the Grand Finale event.

"In addition to making dreams happen for the lucky winners, through this campaign, like in the 2020 first edition, Nestlé is going to collaborate with 17 charities that will be participating for the grand finale event alongside the contestants," it added.
