KUALA LUMPUR: VietJet, a Vietnamese low-cost carrier (LCC), is expanding its flight network between Vietnam and China with the addition of the Ho Chi Minh City-Chengdu direct service.

According to the airline, this tactical move foresees the rise in demand for travel between Malaysia and China and gives travelers a chance to explore the distinctive experiences that both China and Vietnam have to offer.

"Malaysian passengers now have additional flight options with convenient transit in Ho Chi Minh City. Operating daily, the flights between Kuala Lumpur and Ho Chi Minh City offer passengers increased flexibility and an alternative route to Chengdu," it said in a statement.

Malaysians can easily begin their journey to Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province in southwest China, from Ho Chi Minh City, a thriving economic center and the entry point to many interesting destinations in Vietnam.

The Ho Chi Minh City-Chengdu route will launch on February 10, 2024, with one return flight per day. For the new route, the fares are just RM120 all-in and are good for travel from February 10, 2024, to March 30, 2024.

According to Vietjet, the direct connection is important for promoting trade and tourism between the two countries of China and Vietnam as well as for improving transportation connections.

The airline is rapidly growing its footprint in Southeast Asia as part of its plan to bring the region closer to China.

Vietjet Thailand recently began offering direct flights from Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Guangzhou to Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. In the near future, the airline hopes to expand its service to other important Chinese cities.

These direct services help to boost the tourism economy between the nations and the region as a whole, in addition to offering travelers a range of travel options and reasonably priced fares.
