The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) says production of new vehicles in November 2020 increased 17.9 per cent YoY to 54,832 units from 46,517 units manufactured a year ago.

KUALA LUMPUR: New vehicle sales in November this year increased 7.4 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to 56,489 units from 52,584 units recorded a year ago.

The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) said higher sales volume in November was mainly due to sales tax exemption incentive for passenger vehicles and new model launches during the period.

Of the total, passenger vehicles (PV) accounted for 51,174 units while 5,315 units of commercial vehicles (CV) were sold in November 2020.

Year-to-date November 2020, Malaysia's new vehicle sales dropped 17.2 per cent to 454,708 units from 549,439 units.

The industry saw a total of 412,174 units of PV sold in during the first-11 month of 2020 followed by 41,731 units of CV.

Meanwhile, production of new vehicles in November 2020 increased 17.9 per cent YoY to 54,832 units from 46,517 units manufactured a year ago.

YTD November 2020 new vehicles production also dropped 18.7 per cent to 429,326 units units from 527,945 units produced previously.

MAA said sales volume in December 2020 is expected to be higher than last month level on the back of continuation of the impetus from sales tax exemption incentive for PV and going aggressive promotional campaign by car companies.
