KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has appointed Tan Seri Syed Zainol Anwar Ibni Syed Putra Jamalullail as its chairman effective tomorrow.

The company, in a statement issued today, said Syed Zainol Anwar will replace Tan Sri Dr Wan Abdul Aziz whose contract as director and chairman ends today.

"Malaysia Airports looks forward to welcome its new chairman and to chart yet another exciting phase of growth for the company under his leadership," the company said.

Currently, Syed Zainol Anwar is the chairman of Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd, Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd, Malakoff Corporation Bhd, Lembaga Zakat Selangor and Pulau Indah Ventures Sdn. Bhd. He is also the Chancellor of SEGi University.

Wan Abdul Aziz, in parting, said that Malaysia Airports has the capability to continue to create value for the ever-evolving aviation landscape.

"I am also confident that it will continue to reap the success of its innovative plans and hard work. This is the right time for me to make way for another leader at the helm to pursue the company’s vision and steer it towards achieving even greater heights,” he said.

Under the chairmanship of Wan Abdul Aziz, Malaysia Airports opened klia2, acquired Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport in Turkey, and opened Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA.
