PRAGUE: A video shows the dramatic moments when a student armed with a rifle fired at people from a balcony at Prague's Charles University on Thursday (Dec 21).

The gunman killed 14 people in the worst-ever civilian mass killing in the central European country where many hold guns, some of them sports or hunting rifles, but mass shootings are rare.

Police said the 24-year-old student of the arts faculty where he carried out the attack likely shot himself after police cornered him on a balcony. The suspect dropped his long-barrel gun with sights. He carried multiple weapons with him, said police, who requested the gunman's name be withheld. — Reuters
