KUALA LUMPUR: National lawn bowler Nor Farah Ain Abdullah did the nation proud after becoming a world champion at the World Bowls Indoor Championships which ended in Guernsey yesterday.

Farah showed great poise and focus as she defeated Malta's Connie Rixon 6-2, 6-3 in a straightforward women's singles final.

Farah had earlier in this week claimed bronze in the mixed doubles category with Izzat Shameer Dzulkiple.

Izzat also won silver in the men's singles. Malaysia claimed one gold, one silver and one bronze in total to emerge overall champions of the week-long competition.

Farah has had a strong season so far. She won gold in the women's fours and silver in the triples on her debut at the Asian Lawn Bowls Championships Pattaya earlier this year.
