KUALA LUMPUR: Asian and Commonwealth Games silver medallist, Wendy Ng, has finally decided to call time on her international diving career.

Wendy, who competed in three consecutive Olympics since the 2012 London Games, announced her retirement on social media today.

"Today with a grateful and thankful heart, I bid farewell to the pool that's been my sanctuary and stage for countless unforgettable moments.

"To my beloved Team Malaysia, NSC (National Sports Council), NSI (National Sports Institute), Malaysia Aquatics, coaches, teammates, sponsors, and my very supportive fans, your faith propelled me to unimaginable heights.

"Dear mum and dad, your sacrifices were my strength. As I embark on this new journey, I carry memories of past triumphs and hope for a new venture.

"This retirement marks the beginning of a new chapter. Thank you all for being a part of this extraordinary journey. Here's to a new beginning guided by courage and fuelled with passion," said Wendy.

Her retirement announcement was accompanied by a video highlighting her illustrious career which spanned nearly two decades.

Last year at the Hangzhou Asian Games, Wendy won silver in the women's 3m springboard synchro together with partner Nur Dhabitah Sabri, marking her fourth and final appearance at the Asiad.

For the record, Wendy has won a silver medal in every edition of the Asian Games since her debut in 2010.

Along with numerous gold medals at Sea Games level, Wendy also won silver with Dhabitah at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

At the end of her retirement announcement video, Wendy hints at continuing her journey as a coach.
