KUALA LUMPUR: The national rowing team will head to South Korea in search of a ticket to the Paris Olympics.

Rowers Arif Ashraf Mohd Rusok and Nurzarinah Zakaria will compete in the Asian and Oceania Olympic Qualification Regatta in Chungju from April 19-21.

The duo, who will compete in the men's and women's single scull event, aim to be Malaysia's first rowers at the Olympics.

Malaysian Rowing Association president Norhadi Ishari said the competition in Chungju will be tough, and they plan to use the qualifiers to prepare for the 2025 Sea Games in Thailand.

"We have set a target for the 2025 Sea Games and we want to bring medals back... gold medals will be a bonus."
