KUALA LUMPUR: National shooter Johnathan Wong capped off his training stint in Denmark with a silver medal in the men's 10m air pistol event at the Denmark Open Air yesterday.

The 31-year-old recorded 234.7 points to finish behind India's Arjun Singh (239 points) in Vildbjerg Sports-og Kulturcenter.

Denmark's Hansen Jonas Kofoed settled for bronze with 213.1 points.

National Shooting Association of Malaysia (NSAM) executive secretary Hayati Shamsuri is pleased with Johnathan's performance.

"Johnathan has been training in Denmark since Jan 14, which is part of his preparation for the Paris Olympics.

"The medal will boost his confidence when he competes in Paris. We hope to see him qualify for Olympic air pistol final."

Johnathan will next compete in the World Cup series in Baku, Azerbaijan (May 1-12) and Munich, Germany (May 31-June 7). -- BERNAMA
