KUALA LUMPUR: Squash player Yasshmita Jadish Kumar reached the semi-finals of the Ipswich Sports Club Challenger Cup in England with an 11-1, 9-11, 5-11, 11-7, 11-7 win over Wales' Lowri Roberts on Thursday.

The fifth seed from Negri Sembilan, who is world No. 79, will face top seed and world No. 38 Katie Malliff next.

The Englishwoman defeated Nour Khafagy of Egypt 11-8, 11-8, 11-5 in the quarter-finals.

In the men's quarter-finals, Malaysia's ninth seed C. Ameeshenraj lost 9-11, 12-10, 11-5, 5-11, 6-11 to Wales' fifth seed Owain Taylor.

Compariot Darren Pargasam also failed to reach the last four, going down 4-11, 5-11, 12-10, 7-11 to Egypt's Moustafa Elsirty.

Yasshmita, 19, said: "I had played Katie twice before in junior competitions and twice I lost to her.

"I hope to get the better of her in the third meeting."
