KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's joint ninth seed Aira Azman was shown the exit in the second round of the US$82,000 DAC Pro Squash Classic by third seed Rowan Elaraby in Detroit, United States yesterday.

The Egyptian needed just 23 minutes to win 11-7, 11-3, 11-6 and will face compatriot Hana Moataz in the quarter-finals.

In the first round, world No. 49 Aira defeated Jessica Turnbull of Australia 11-9, 11-6, 8-11, 11-4.

World junior silver medallist Aira said: "It's my first tournament this year and it has been quite a while since I played in such a competitive atmosphere.

"So, I feel a bit nervous, but I'm happy to reach the second round and played against Rowan, who is in great form."
