KUALA LUMPUR: National divers Wendy Ng-Nur Dhabitah Sabri failed to clinch an Olympic spot after settling for ninth place in the women's 3m springboard synchronised event at the Doha World Aquatics Championships today.

The duo's dives scored 44.40, 40.20, 63.00, 51.30 and 59.40 for a total score of 258.30 from the judges at the Hamad Aquatic Centre.

They needed to finish among the top-four, excluding those who have already qualified (4), to secure a berth at the Paris Olympics.

Malaysia also did not qualify in this event during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

There were no surprises as all-conquering China, represented by Chang Yani-Chen Yiwen, claimed the gold on 323.43.

Australia's Anabelle Smith-Maddison Keeney (300.45) came in second while Great Britain's Scarlett Mew Jensen-Yasmin Harper (281.70) completed the podium.

Dhabitah is scheduled to compete in the women's 3m springboard individual event tomorrow.
