KUALA LUMPUR: Squash player K. Sehveetrraa has been hospitalised in Alor Star for bronchitis after winning her maiden PSA title, the Bondi Open in Sydney on Sunday.

The 18-year-old was unwell and coughing when she beat compatriot U. Thanusaa 7-11, 11-9, 11-2, 9-11, 11-6 in the Bondi Open final.

Fifth seed Sehveetrraa upset Pakistan's third seed Noor Ul Huda 11-4, 11-5, 11-2 in the quarter-finals and Australia's top seed Sarah Cardwell 11-7, 11-5, 11-8 in the semi-finals.

World No. 148 Sehveetrraa, who turned professional three years ago, said she was coughing before she left for Sydney last week.

"It was difficult for me. I had to overcome my cough and play four days in a row.

"I returned from Sydney on Monday and immediately went to see a doctor in Alor Star. The doctor said I have bronchitis and I got admitted to hospital."

Sehveetrraa, a member of the Malaysian team that won silver in the World Junior Championships in Melbourne in July. said she was not sure whether she can recover in time for the CAS International in Islamabad, Pakistan from Nov 30-Dec 4.
