KUALA LUMPUR: Terengganu coach Nafuzi Zain will face his former roommate in a Super League match tomorrow.

This has come about following Selangor's announcement of Nidzam Jamil as their caretaker coach, replacing underperforming German, Michael Feichtenbeiner.

It is going to be a meeting of the "N n N", Nafuzi vs Nidzam, at the MBPJ Stadium.

And the script sounds familiar too, as Nafuzi was in Nidzam's shoes before.

"The first time I became Terengganu caretaker coach (May, 2019), we played Felda United (1-1) whose coach was Nidzam," said Nafuzi.

"We took our coaching licence together and Nidzam was my roommate."

The reunion aside, Nafuzi said he has his problems to deal with.

"Some of my players are injured and not ready, and we only have a couple of days to prepare.

"Nidzam is a good coach and has great knowledge. He knows how to win matches. But we're ready for him."

Nafuzi, who used to play for Terengganu, said: "Nidzam deserves the Selangor job. He has potential."

Meanwhile following Terengganu's 1-0 win over Sarawak United on Saturday, Nafuzi is keeping his fingers crossed for all his core players to be available against the Red Giants.

Nafuzi said playing nine games in less than two months is taxing on his players, causing the squad to be depleted, and they have a bigger target ahead — the FA Cup final against Johor Darul Ta'zim.

Terengganu are fourth in the standings with 20 points, while Selangor are ninth on 16.
