KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's Eizlan Dahalan won the men's high jump bronze at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkey, yesterday.

Eizlan leaped 2.14m. He cleared 2.10m at the Hanoi Sea Games in May to win bronze.

Eizlan, who has a personal best of 2.18m, said: "Although I did not do a personal best, I am happy with my efforts to make a memorable debut in Turkey."

Eizlan also won gold in the Asean University Games in Ubon Ratchathani last month.

In the men's 4 x 100m heats, the quartet of Khairul Hafiz Jantan, Arsyad Saat, Jonathan Nyepa and Haiqal Hanafi qualified for the final by clocking 39.90 seconds. In the final, they finished sixth after clocking 39.46. The national 4x100m record is 39.09 set by Azeem Fahmi, Haiqal Hanafi, Jonathan and Zulfiqar Ismail at the Hanoi Sea Games.

In men's discus, Irfan Shamsuddin, who has a personal best of 62.55m, posted 59.37m to finish sixth out of 10 athletes. In the Birmingham Commonwealth Games last week, he recorded 59.53m to place ninth out of 12 athletes in the final.

Sprinter Jonathan posted 21.32s in the men's 200m heats for sixth place, and did not advance to the final.

In the women's high jump final, Nurliyana Kamaruddin cleared 1.73m to finish sixth while Yap Sean Yee only managed 1.65m for 11th place out of 12 participants.

Sadat Marzuqi Ajisan, who won the men's hammer gold with a throw of 56m in the Asean University Games, recorded 59.05m to finish ninth.
