KUALA LUMPUR: Any power or decision making involving financial allocation for state sports schools is said to fall under the jurisdiction of the Education Ministry’s sports division.

Federal Territories state education department director, Ismail Musa confirmed this latest development when commenting on the issue of problems faced by the Federal Territories sports schools as highlighted by NSTP Sport.

"The school is tied to the state education department, but in terms of financial allocation it is all from the Education Ministry’s sports division,” said Ismail.

"However for further comments on the matter, it will have to be from the Education Ministry’s sports division as this is because the sports schools programme is under them.”

Following this, yesterday (Tuesday), Education Minister Dr. Maszlee Malik instructed the Federal Territories State Education Department to prepare a report on the problems faced by the school.

When asked as to whether he has paid a visit to SMK Seri Titiwangsa to see for himself the various problems happening at the school, Ismail replied that he has yet to do so.

"I have not gone yet, and who said that I have (gone to the school)?’ Ismail replied.

It is understood that Federal Territories State Education Department officials together with their counterparts from the Education Ministry have already visited SMK Seri Titiwangsa at about 11am yesterday to inspect what is going on there.
