KUALA LUMPUR: The legendary Karamjit Singh is set to make his long-awaited return to the sport in the Malaysian Rally Championship in Maran, Pahang, tomorrow.

The Flying Sikh is making a comeback after more than three years and will reunite with his partner, Jagdev Singh, for a tilt at the national title.

"The national championship has been delayed a few times because of the pandemic," said the former world production car rally champion.

"I'm glad it is taking off finally and we can race again. I have been keeping myself fit by going to the gym and playing badminton," said Karamjit.

The national championship is a four-round competition with Round 2 on Sept 3 and 4, Round 3 on Oct 29 and 30 and Round 4 on Nov 26 and 27. Karamjit's return to rallying was made possible by a sponsorship from Cisco Academy last year for the 60-year-old. He will be piloting a Proton Gen-2 turbo rally car, which he last drove in 2018.
