ZULFAHMI Khairuddin urges Adam Norrodin to keep his spirits up and continue to pursue a career in motorcycle racing despite his recent setbacks.

Zulfahmi who oversees Sepang International Circuit's (SIC) rider development programme via his outfit, ZK Racing, has been Adam's mentor and manager over the past few seasons in the Moto2 European Championship.

The series serves as a stepping stone to the World Championships (MotoGP).

SIC, however, last week confirmed that Adam has not been included in their rider line-up for this year. Adam then admitted that his dream of making it to MotoGP had ended.

"I hope he will keep his spirits up and continue to race. This should not be the end of Adam's career," said Zulfahmi.

"It is a testing time for him. He had performed quite well last season but unfortunately has found himself without a seat (for this year).

"I will try to help him find another team and will focus on (championships in) in Asia and also domestically."

Zulfahmi disclosed that he and SIC had looked at many factors before deciding not to continue with Adam in the Moto2 European Championship.

"For me to summarise it would be too complicated but what I can say is that we had looked at many aspects, including performance and also sponsorship," said Zulfahmi.

"Adam had his best season in 2021 and was on the podium three times.

"We (however) expected him to finish higher up the standings as was discussed at the start of the season.

"I believe that Adam could have achieved that target (top-three) but he faced several setbacks, including crashes, which made it tough for him.

"After considering everything, we decided to focus on the newer generation of riders."

Adam, who turns 24 in June, was racing in the Moto2 European Championship since 2019.

He finished fifth overall in the series last year.
