Zulfahmi Khairuddin has made it clear that Adam Norrodin will have to earn his place in the Moto2 World Championship next year.

Zulfahmi, who oversees Sepang International Circuit's rider development programme, said he wants to see Adam finishing among the frontrunners in this season's Moto2 European Championship before considering him for the higher level Moto2 World Championship.

"He needs to show he deserves a spot in the Moto2 World Championship," said Zulfahmi.

"I don't want our riders to be promoted too easily if they don't reach the targets set for them.

"We have targeted Adam to finish in the top-three this year.

"To me, going to the World Championships is like qualifying for the Olympics.

"Once you become an Olympian, you are an Olympian for the rest of your life.

"It's the same with the (motorcycling) World Championships, it's a title you carry your whole life even if you only competed for one season.

"Adam is currently fifth in the Moto2 European Championship, and there are still 50 points up for grabs in the last two races this season, so he still has a chance of moving up in the standings."

Adam, who has scored three podium finishes this season, is currently fifth overall in the Moto2 European Championship with 84 points.

He represents ZK Racing in the European event.

The final round of the season will be held in Valencia on Nov 19-21.
