Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin celebrates his victory in the CP150 class at the Petronas Malaysian Cub Prix Championships yesterday.

Crowd favourite Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin treated his fans to a thrilling performance en route to victory in the CP150 class at the sixth round of the Petronas Malaysian Cub Prix Championships in Terengganu yesterday.

Round five winner Azroy Hakeem Anuar (Honda Yuzy Idemitsu Team) again started from pole and was in charge for much of the race at the Terengganu Motorsports Circuit.

Azroy, however, failed to fend off a hard-charging Kasma (Petronas Yamaha Sprinta Maju Motor), who overtook his rival in the final lap.

Kasma hung on to take the chequered flag in 16 minutes and 33.906 seconds, a mere 0.083s ahead of second-placed Azroy.

Akid Aziz (Onexox TKKR Racing Team) came in a distant third (+3.286s), while Ahmad Afif Amran (Petronas Sprinta Yamaha-CKJ Racing Team) settled for fourth (+4.763s).

Kasma, who rejoined Cub Prix this year after his stint in the
Moto2 World Championship last season, was delighted with the win,

It was his first Cub Prix victory since December 2018.

"I am still new to this track, so it took me some time to settle in and find the right setup for this circuit," said Kasma, who lined up fifth on the starting grid.

"Stamina is very important at this track, so I waited for Azroy to show signs of fatigue.

"I saw my chance at turn one and was able to pass him safely.

"It has been a long time since I have been on the top step of the podium. I will look to continue my momentum in the next races."

Kasma, who finished fourth in race five on Saturday, is now fifth in the overall standings with 60 points.

Azroy leads with 103 points, followed by Afif (71 points) and Akid (70).

Meanwhile, Adib Rosley (Ipone Yamaha YY Pang Racing Team) and Harith Haziq Zamri (Castrol Power 1 Honda Team) won the CP125 and Wira KBS class races yesterday.
