Azroy Hakeem Anuar's race ended in a pile-up but he still took maximum points in the CP150 class at the fifth round of the Petronas Malaysian Cub Prix Championships in Terengganu yesterday.

The Honda Yuzy Idemitsu Team rider and Ahmad Afif Amran (Petronas Sprinta Yamaha-CKJ Racing), who lined up first and second on the grid, got off to a solid start at the Terengganu Motorsports Circuit.

Afif was leading for much of the early laps with Azroy in tow.

Azroy, who renewed the lap record three times yesterday, however, took the lead with seven laps to go and was still in charge going into the final lap until disaster struck.

One of the back-markers had blown an engine and spilt oil onto the track causing Azroy, Afif and many other riders to crash into the air fence at turn seven.

The race was immediately red-flagged, with the organisers subsequently taking the final results from the riders' positions during the second last lap.

Azroy (14:04.644s) was handed the win, followed by Afif (+0.174s) and Onexox TKKR Racing Team's Akid Aziz (+6.53s).

Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin (Petronas Sprinta Yamaha Maju Motor) finished fourth (+7.223s.)

The riders were able to walk away from the pile-up. However, Azroy suffered a minor leg injury and skipped the prize-giving ceremony.

It was Azroy's second win this season after Sepang (round three) earlier this year.

Azroy said his injury is not serious and expects to be back for the sixth round at the same track today.

"I am very grateful to win another race. My pace was good today (yesterday)," said Azroy.

"I have a slight injury to my right leg, but it is not too bad. I will be back on the track tomorrow (today)."

Azroy now holds a comfortable lead atop the premier class standings with 83 points, followed by Afif (58 points) and Akid (54).

Meanwhile, the CP125 class race saw Adib Rosley (Ipone Yamaha YY Pang Racing Team) winning in 13:06.025s.

Harith Haziq Zamri (Castrol Power 1 Honda Team) topped the Wira KBS class race in 10:44.956s.
