KUALA LUMPUR: Defending champions Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sports School (SSTMI) Thunderbolts got off to a flying start in the Malaysian Junior Hockey League (MJHL) by outplaying SMK Padang Maidin 7-0 at Batu Buruk Hockey Stadium in Kuala Terengganu on Friday.

Haziq Zunnurrain Azhary (13th, 47th) and Adam Ashraf Johari (30th, 51st) each scored a brace.

Jebat Aiman Jeffri (17th), Syazwan Shamsul (19th) and Irfan Abd Nasir (60th) delivered the other goals for SSTMI.

Last year's runners-up Pahang Hockey Academy Thunderbolts also got off to a good start by beating former champions Petaling Jaya Municipal Council (MBPJ) Hockey Academy 4-0 at the Education Ministry Turf.

Nor Daniel Nor Effendy (26th), Nor Syakir Hafiz (43rd), Ariq Aidil Hakimi Nor Rizal (54th) and Ezrien Aidil Hakim Zani (59th) scored for the Pahang team.
