KUALA LUMPUR: Former national hockey coach Paul Lissek, who is in Kuala Lumpur, is ready to help the Malaysian team if his services are needed.

The 76-year-old German said he can be a consultant to the Malaysian Hockey Confederation/

"I'm willing to help the Malaysian team.

"I know well that Sarjit (Singh, the newly appointed national head coach) alone cannot handle the national team.

"I'm willing to help him if the need arises but it will be on a temporary basis as I have other commitments," said the vastly experienced Lissek who has coached in several countries.

Lissek helped Sarjit to prepare the Malaysia side for the 2005 Junior World Cup in Rotterdam. He was also hired by MHC as a consultant for the 2017 KL Sea Games indoor event.

Lissek coached Malaysia to the silver medal at the 1998 KL Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur.

For Lissek, Malaysia is his second home. The German arrived in Kuala Lumpur last month to coach at the Jiwa Mohan Academy in Penang, KL and Klang. He has been doing so for the last three years.
