KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will meet Uruguay for fifth placing in the women's Hockey 5s World Cup in Muscat, Oman, today.

Yesterday, Malaysia bounced back from a 6-4 loss to South Africa to beat New Zealand 5-3 in a fifth- eighth classification match.

Against New Zealand, Malaysia scored through Nur Zafirah Aziz (first, 25th minute), Ellya Syahirah Ellias (fifth), Dian Nursyakira Najwa Al-Wadqa (14th) and Nurul Safiqah Mat Isa (30th).

New Zealand replied through Oriwa Hepi (fourth, 30th) and Leah Arthur-Worsop (26th).

Malaysia coach Nabil Fiqri Noor praised his players for recovering from the South Africa setback to defeat New Zealand.

"One of our players got a serious injury but it will not affect our team in the fifth placing match," said Nabil.
