KUALA LUMPUR: Kelly Tan has achieved her best ever finish in the LPGA Tour — joint second with Finland's Matilda Castren — at the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational in Michigan.

The 28-year-old Malaysian posted a final round eight-under 62 for 21-under 259 to finish five shots behind the winners, American duo Jennifer Kupcho and Lizette Salas at the Midland Country Club yesterday.

The Malaysian-Finnish combination had shot 69, 61, 67 in the first three rounds of the US$2.5 million (RM11.12m) event which was held on a team stroke play format and also offered points for the Race to CME Globe standings.

Kelly, whose previous best in the LPGA tour was joint fourth placing at the Marathon Classic, said: "It's been an unbelievable week. It's just so awesome that I got to do it with my best friend, Matilda.

Meanwhile, Matilda is looking forward to becoming Kelly's maid of honour when the latter marries her Canadian fiance Dustin Lattery in December.

"Of course, I'm going to be her maid of honour. I don't have much experience in that. I have never been anyone's maid of honour.

"Only been to a few weddings in my life," said Matilda.
