WATCH out for Jeneath Wong as the Malaysian is a mean machine on the golf course. The 17-year-old certainly has the pedigree to make a mark on the LPGA Tour and other top women's events one day.

Jeneath showed her prowess on Friday by winning the prestigious Australian Master of the Amateurs Championships at the Victoria Golf Club.

The win, her first this year, will certainly offer the Malaysian the confidence to attain bigger things in the sport.

The victory comes just a month after her success at the Sandbelt Invitational Amateur Championships, also in Australia.

Jeneath was in a class of her own as she cruised to a seven-shot victory over second-placed Belinda Ji of Australia to put on the tournament's Green Jacket, akin to the one awarded to the US Masters champion.

The Malaysian carded three rounds of 70s, except for the third round where she recorded a 74, to finish on four-under 284.

She is the second Malaysian to top the Australia Master after Alyaa Abdulghany, who won in 2020.

"It was a really good experience playing this exclusive tournament along with the top amateurs," Jeneath told www.amateurgolf.com on Friday.

"Since I am going to college next year, I think it will be a good practice playing really high, top golf."

Jeneath will move to the United States in mid-2023 to study and play collegiate golf.

The Melbourne-based golfer has signed for California-based Pepperdine University.

It was Jeneath's fourth appearance in the Australian Master, billed as among the top-10 amateur events in the world.

After coming in 17th on her debut in 2019, she finished 11th in 2020 and fourth last year.

Jeneath has been making a name Down Under since moving to Australia with her family in 2016, amassing nine titles to date, with six achieved last year.

Among her victories last year were the Australian Junior Amateur Championships, the Victorian Junior Amateur and the Riversdale Cup.
