KUALA LUMPUR: Indonesia are expected to leapfrog Malaysia in the latest FIFA rankings for the first time in five years following Harimau Malaya's back-to-back defeats to Oman in recent World Cup qualifying matches.

Harimau Malaya suffered 2-0 defeats to world no. 80 Oman in Group D in Muscat last week and at Bukit Jalil on Tuesday.

According to footranking.com, Kim Pan Gon's side are set to lose 15.63 points and drop four spots to No. 136 in the rankings.

In contrast, Indonesia won both their recent World Cup qualifying matches against Vietnam, recording 1-0 and 3-0 victories in Group F.

The Garuda earned 30.03 points from their efforts, climbing nine rungs to No. 134.

Vietnam are expected to drop from No. 105 to No. 115.
