PETALING JAYA: Brendan Gan is the only player in the 33-member national squad without a club ahead of the M-League kick-off on May 10.

After four seasons with Selangor, the 36-year-old parted ways with the Red Giants after helping them finish second in the Super League last year, which earned them a spot in the upcoming 2024-2025 AFC Champions League 2.

However, the midfielder does not want his club status to affect his mission with Harimau Malaya, who are preparing for the World Cup qualifier against Oman in Muscat on March 21.

"I have not finalised anything yet about my next destination. I am just focusing on the national team, and hopefully, everything will go well here so that I can sort out my future soon," said Brendan today.

"I'm happy to return to camp. I will do my best for the country.

"Everything is up in the air at the moment. I am not sure what is going to happen. However, I am sure the media will know very soon and probably before I even know.

"There are always speculations and rumours, but my lips are sealed because nothing is finalised," said Brendan, who is linked to Sri Pahang.

Brendan continued working hard to maintain his fitness after the recent Asian Cup.

"I was not just sitting around and doing nothing. I kept myself fit, exercising daily.

Three more players joined the national camp on the third day of training at Wisma FAM, Kelana Jaya.

They were Faisal Halim, Safawi Rasid and Stuart Wilkin.

Johor Darul Ta'zim's Syihan Hazmi, Matthew Davies, La'Vere Corbin-Ong, Endrick dos Santos, Arif Aiman Hanapi, Shahrul Saad, Syamer Kutty Abba, Junior Eldstal and Romel Morales will only report on March 15, while Buriram United defender Dion Cools will only join the team in Muscat.

Malaysia will have a warm-up match against Nepal before playing against Oman in a World Cup Group D qualifier.

Harimau Malaya are at the top of Group D with six points after edging Kyrgyzstan (4-3) and Taiwan (1-0) in November.
